Confiding her thoughts to her fiancé and fellow housemaid, feisty Verity Hunter, Joan is unsure of what exactly is making her uneasy, but then Delphine Denford dies…

Armed only with their own good sense and quick thinking, Joan and Verity must pit their wits against a cunning murderer in order to send them to justice.

act that he ale takes place during the early 16th century means that repercussion of removal of evidence from the scene of he crime seems to hav more cceptable than in current times.

Since Verity Hunter is working in London they are hard pressed to collaborate, Joan begin to London and Verity manages a trip to Asharton.
