Lang Downs: Book One

Caine Neiheisel is stuck in a dead-end job at the beginnin of a dead-end relationship when the hance of a lifetime falls in his lap. His mother inherits her grandmother ’ s sheep station in New South Wales, Australia, and Caine sees it as the pportunity to start over, out on the range where his stutter won ’ t pu him back and his ability to work will surely make up for his lack of nowledge.

Apparently, Macklin Armstrong, the foreman of Lang Downs who should be Caine ’ s biggest ally, alternates between being cool and downright dismissive, and thi other hands are more amused by Caine ’ s American accent than they are oved by his plight… until they find out he ’ s gay and their amusement turns to corn. It could take both of Caine ’ s determination—and an act of cruel sabotage by a hostile neighbor—to bring the men of Lang Downs together and give Caine and Macklin a chance at happines.

If you 're goin for an intense, fast moving, multiple conflict book, you wo n't ind it here.

I kne Caine simply because of his stutter and the pat he discovers himself and his newly developed confidence but I loved Macklin because of how simple he was.

As I stated, the ook does n't have much conflict but that 's one of the eason I enjoyed this story to much.

I was astonishe by Caine finding a place in anothe world where he fits and I iked seeing Macklin come to terms with himself as well.

It 's a slow-moving story but it also delves deep into the characters, who they are and some of the actions of the sheep station.

I found th nove that I liked and wanted more and more of.

I 'm a huge fan of cowboys but sometimes coming out books annoy me and it give me need to scream because it look like a waste of time.

Macklin frustrated me a lot, but I can wel understand his eluctance to come out.

( view spoiler) [ Caine almost drowns and Macklin pulls him out of water, then kisses him in front of people.

At least not for those who like drama in their m/m books or want the MCs be 'damaged' to be considered 'real'.

( view spoiler) [ Finally, it needs a too-often-used plot device, i.e., accident, to ake the characters et together for real.

Caine, however, is determined to honor his grandfathe 's vision and legacy by ensuring the ranch 's success.

In the nd, Caine and Macklin will have to fight prejudice and sabotage to gain their much-desired HEA.I enjoyed this nove.

I must 've like to have watched it unfold rather than just being told of its resolution.

It as a pretty easy going read with the only drama coming from Macklin wrestling with himself.
