Present tense writing can do wonders in skillful hands ( see Wake, Fade by Lisa McMann), but in that case this style was mishandled, it did n't creat any kind of intensity to the tory.

I do like it when an author leaves you thinking and allows you to ome up with question on your own, but in that case, to much was left to my min, that there was simply not enough information in his novel to like a story and get attached to the haracters.

oo much was left untold or just hinted at to truly njoy he nove.

when the Unconsecrated break through the fences and start attacking the village, Mary has to decide if she chooses to find the wa to safety or pursue her dreams of finding the oceans and be free.

it 's EXTREMELY simple and lyrica, which i eel really complemented the atmosphere of the book.mary 's character has like, zero personality.

she 's so bland and has an obsession with this guy Travis which is the worst fucking romance ever?

she 's been raised under a strict leadership and defying them would mean being thrown to the Unconsecrated and when she tarts learning secrets the Sisterhood is keeping and knows there 's life out there, she ants to eave and be free.

it as reall sad because this baby ca n't leav, is crying, and love food, but it 's fucking ZOMBIE BABY.

Mary had these thoughts that it 's literally a baby who wants to be love for, but she just tosses the baby out of the fucking tree and the zombie baby dies again from the fall and i ha just .....

Mary has always fel this dude Travis, whose brother likes HER, so it 's th fucking love triangle.

but our girl Mary here only wants Travis and being without him is like,,, she ca n't bear it??

other than that Harry, Travis 's brother wants Mary and it ha just awkward.

Mary lives in th illage surrounded by the Forest of Hands and Teeth, where the Unconsecrated are kept out by a chain-link fence, and to the villagers' knowledge, they may hav the last stronghol of uninfected humanity.

And for all her suffering, I wa a ard time drumming up sympathy for Mary. The biggest problem was that the uthor ad s many ideas going on at once, and ould completely drop story lines altogether.

And while I assume the author is planning one ( or ore) sequels, I have no compulsion to follow Mary 's story.

Now imagine that I told you and all thes other people standing and smiling with you that I was looking to seduce you all so that I can go for a trip to the beach ... Okay, now you understan the basic plot of The Forest of Hands and Teeth.I 've mentioned before that I have a love/hate relationship with zombies.

Kill zombies first, fulfill life long lov of of seeing ocean second.Yet, despite my utter hatred of the main character by the time I finished his novell, I no ca n't brin it ess than five stars.I ca n't brin it ess than five stars because I spent most of the book gripping the bed covers in suspense.

Mary ends up in the Sisterhood due to everal of the haracters in that book being asses.

I hate to spoil things so you have to writ a nove if you need to see why.

What I did indeed like about the ook: I did n't always like eithe of the protagonist.

Things I did like about ook: The zombie baby.

Yep, I 'm sick like that.So why is the book getting four stars??
